CASE a Card

Hi there!  Long time, no blogging …

I've been in a bit of stamping slump lately, so I decided to CASE (copy and share for everyone) a card I found online (created by Carrie Gaskin, the Artistic Avenger – love her work!).  When I get into a slump, I find that CASE'ing gets me back into the swing of things.

A good friend of mine recently went through a major surgery and I wanted to send some heartfelt wishes in the form of a handmade card.  This card fit the bill perfectly.

Lots of Love Letterpress Plates - by Stampin' Up! I am loving the way this turned out, gorgeous colors, fun layout and use of many different punches.  It may be hard to see, but I even used the Lots of Love letterpress plate on my Sahara Sand background.

So, what do you think?  Stamping this card inspired me to make a few more… I hope to share those with you very soon.

Minnie & Mickey Get “Punched”

We'll be going to see Minnie & Mickey very soon!

I thought my Niece, Nephews and Son would enjoy some custom-made autograph books to capture signatures from all their favorite characters.  I thought back to the good old days, when we'd cover our books with paper bags.  I found this great tutorial to remind me how to create one and then coverted the idea into Crumb Cake cardstock.  Worked like a charm!!

Aren't they cute?  These Minnie's and Mickey's were super easy to make using a few Stampin' Up! punches.

  • The body made from the 2 1/2" circle punch, same with the "pants" (I just punched 1/2 a circle).
  • The ears are made from the 1 1/4" circle punch.  I punched into the body using the 1 1/4" punch to custom fit the ears, I didn't want any overlap.
  • The pant buttons are made with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.
  • For Minnie, I used the small heart punch to create a bow.
  • I used the Decorative Label Punch to frame "2011", which was simply printed on regular copy paper.

A skinny rubber band wrapped around the notebook secures a pen.  It fit perfectly!  I was so excited.  I kept the notebooks simple for little hands (ages 2, 6, 7 & 10).

The first time my son, Devlin went to Disney World, he was about 3 1/2.  Here he is – not so sure what to think of those big monsters!  I love the look on his face, he is such a character himself.

More Mommy, bragging photos… I can't believe he was so little!

Apple Love for a Teacher

School Valentine
I created these cute little heart apples with the help of my heart-to-heart punch and the Tart & Tangy stamp set.

Heart to Heart Punch:  Item #119881, $16.95
Tart & Tangy Stamp Set:  Item #111514, $12.95

Heart-To-Heart Punch - by Stampin' Up!   Tart & Tangy Stamp Set - by Stampin' Up!

This card and gift below are for Valentine's Day for my son's first grade teacher.

To keep the "teacher feel" of this card, I used colors that remind me of school.  I wanted to use the apple from Tart & Tangy, but had a lightbulb moment when I thought of turning them into hearts.

I'm really happy with the way this gift set turned out.  Also included is small pail (not pictured) covered with tiny red apples and filled with valentine's candy.

Happy Birthday, Scott!

Manly Birthday

Today, I share with you a kwik and kool birthday card created for a special uncle.

Now – I first have to apologize to him because the card is still sitting here on my desk.  I know I sent a belated card last year, too – I need to get on the ball!

I had a fun time playing with the little squares and arranging them "just so".  Pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

Paper Pieced Girl

Paper Pieced Girl

Have you ever thought of paper piecing with line art stamp images?

That's just what I did here using the Greeting Card Kids stamp set by Stampin' Up!  I'm not much of a watercoloring artist, but I say with confidence "I know how to cut!"

My little girl is donning an outfit from the Pawsitively Prints II designer series paper collection.  How fun!

Who’s Turning Two?

IMG_1720 My niece, Ashlynn is turning 2 years old this week.  When I was shopping for her, I couldn't resist this adorable gift bag.

I found the gift bag in Target's dollar section (score!) and decided to create a coordinating card.

I love playing with punches.  This owl punch is no exception.  Now … to figure out a way to make my owl look more like a girl.

Here's my updated owl – added some eyelashes with a white gel pen.  Thanks for the suggestions!

Laughter Heals

With 2011 quickly approaching, I think I'll take some advice from the Word Play stamp set…

Laughter by definition is healthy.  I have some healing to do after losing my Mom in March of 2010.  Hopefully lots of laughter can be a part of that process.

She would have LOVED this card.  The leaves, the colors – the sentiment … all of it!

If you too love this card, you may want to consider ordering the French Foliage stamp set through my online store.

It's in the Holiday Mini catalog and the last day to order from the Holiday Mini is January 3, 2011.

French Foliage, Clear Mount – Item #121166 – $14.95
French Foliage, Wood Mount – Item #120845 – $19.95

Treat for Someone Sweet

Long time … no see!

I haven't posted in quite some time – but that's because I haven't stamped in a while either.

This card set was created for my little guy, Devlin.  My husband & I got away to Las Vegas over Thanksgiving break and when I'm away for an extended period of time, I always make a card a day for Devlin.

You can see the other sets I created by clicking the links below.

Tall Tales Cards

Long Fellows Cards

This card set was created with the Fox & Friends and Got Treats stamp sets.  What makes these cards extra special is that Devlin treasures them and keeps every last one in his room (he's only 7 and already so sentimental – he's a keeper!)
